Donations Coordinator & Materials Processor
Full Time – 40 hours per week
The Donations Coordinator & Materials Processor is responsible for the day-to-day management of incoming donations of building materials and assisting the receiving department in processing these materials.
The donations component involves a good deal of email and phone communication with donors of materials and multiple layers of tracking donations, from the first email or phone offer to the donation receipt and thank-you note after the donation has been received. This position also includes organizing the daily pick-up schedule for the BBR/RC truck staff and working closely with the truck staff to provide exceptional customer service to our donors of materials.
The processing of donated materials includes understanding the use of the materials, knowing or researching the “new” price of the item, assigning a condition value of the item, and arriving at a BBR/RC price for it. Making the item presentable for sale is also a part of the processing function. This may include small repair, assembly, dusting/cleaning the item before it is put on the sales floor. Moving the items to the sales floor is also a part of the job.
Handle all incoming donor emails and most calls: explain program to prospective donors, initiate and/or continue the donation process with donors;
Determine appropriateness of potential donations, vet condition of offered item, communicate donation guidelines and pick-up fees, schedule date (and time) for pick-up and enter data into CRM database;
Enter pick-up schedule data and details into OneNote software for truck staff which they can access on the company truck phone;
Meet with truck staff daily to review day’s pick-ups and to review next day’s pick-up schedule;
Write and send thank-you cards to helpful and outstanding donors in a timely manner;
Help make every donor’s experience with BBR/RC a positive one. We strive to cultivate materials donors as eventual financial supporters; we are looking to build long-term partnerships with our donor base;
Maintain regular contact with BBR/RC truck staff to discuss previous day’s pick-ups, to review current day’s pick-ups, and to discuss items that should/should not be accepted;
Work closely with store sales staff to determine items we are in need of and those which we should/should not be accepting;
Organize weekly donations pick-up schedule in efficient and logical order;
Coordinate BBR participation in community “zero waste” days, where we join other nonprofits at a community location for local residents to bring reusable materials;
Send out BBR/RC Information Packages and Don’t Throw It Away cards as requested;
Work closely with BBR/RC Director and Grant Writer to communicate with those donors who may be interested in becoming financial supporters of the organization.
Coordinate with Assistant Director and Director of Marketing to develop strategies for outreach to new donors.

Demonstrated history of reliability
Ability and willingness to work on some Saturdays
Ability to stay calm and focused when asked to do many tasks at once
Two years of construction experience and/or building materials retail sales
Ability to communicate clearly
Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly and 75 lbs. occasionally
Ability to sit in an office chair for long periods, to talk on the telephone, to work on a computer
Willing to “get your hands dirty”
Bilingual in Spanish a plus
Salary & Benefits
Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits include: 10 paid holidays per year; 2 weeks paid vacation for first three years of service, 3 weeks per year after third year, and 4 weeks per year after six years; 3 paid personal days per year; up to 5 paid sick days per year; 50% contribution to the premium of an individual health insurance plan.

Kitchen Design Associate
Part Time – 22 hours per week, Saturdays 9:00-3:00 plus two other days to be determined
The primary responsibility of the Associate is to greet customers and orient them to our kitchen department, answering basic questions about BBR’s cabinetry and kitchen design services and scheduling follow-up design appointments as needed. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to gain exposure to how a kitchen design showroom functions and to learn from designers at work.
Greet customers and introduce BBR’s kitchen department and our design/sales process.
Answer basic questions about cabinet construction, features, hardware, and countertops.
Direct customers to samples and showroom displays in response to their questions.
Schedule follow-up kitchen design appointments with designers.
Schedule cabinet deliveries.
Clean and replenish materials in the kitchen department.
Coordinate countertop sales orders: request quotes, schedule templating and installation, collect payments.
Fulfill online sales orders for products and memberships.
Manage tradesperson referral list.
Knowledge and skills required
